The Performers: Beth Ullman

Beth Ullman has been wowing audiences in the Southwest for the past fifteen years with her innovative renditions of jazz standards. She released her debut CD, “Aren't We the Lucky Ones,” in 1994 to enthusiastic reviews from JAZZTIMES and CADENCE magazines, the latter declaring: “She has an absolutely exquisite instrument.”

In 1993 she was voted Best Jazz Vocalist by the Austin Players Critics Poll. Her band "Countenance" was named a finalist in MUSICIAN magazine's "best of the unsigned bands" in 1990. Ms. Ullman's latest CD, Go Within, was released in December 1998 on KUT-FM Public Radio by host John Aielli, who gave his "thumbs-up" and selected Go Within as his favorite album of 1998. The disc features a unique blend of new age and pop styles of mostly original meditation music. It was the number one selling Texas artist CD in Austin's Tower Records for the week prior to Christmas and the seventh hottest seller in the entire store. In the summer of 2000 Viewpoint Records released Ms. Ullman's second jazz CD, I Love You Too Much. The CD features many of her own compositions. Ms. Ullman is also on the Commercial Music Faculty at McLennan Community College in Waco, where she is an instructor of voice and vocal ensemble.
